Your Opportunity: Become a Data & Technology Strategist for Our Large-Scale Plants!
Unplanned shutdowns and plant failures? Not with you! At ELG Utica Alloys/Aperam Recycling, we ensure that scrap shears, presses, and sorting systems weighing several metric tons run reliably around the clock. As a working student in Reliability Engineering, you’ll dive deep into the world of predictive maintenance. You’ll analyze the causes of malfunctions, evaluate plant data, and develop maintenance strategies—the perfect combination of engineering theory and real-world industrial practice!
Your Responsibilities:
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): You’ll help investigate recurring equipment defects (“bad actors”) and gain hands-on experience with methods such as RCA, 5-Why, and FMEA.
- Predictive Maintenance (PdM): You’ll assist with data collection and analysis for predictive maintenance measures (e.g., vibration and oil analyses, thermography).
- Data Analysis & BI Dashboards: You’ll analyze equipment data from our CMMS system (SAP PM / Maximo) and help build dashboards (e.g., in Power BI or Excel) to monitor key performance indicators such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
- Strategy Support (RCM): You’ll assist with maintaining and optimizing maintenance plans based on Reliability-Centered Maintenance.
- International Liaison: You’ll work closely with our on-site teams in German and assist with documentation or coordination in English.
Your Profile: An analytical mind with a knack for technology:
You enjoy working with numbers, want to understand why things break, and are eager to
improve processes.
- Your Degree: You are a currently enrolled student (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, or a comparable technical field.
- IT & Data Skills: You are proficient in MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and have an interest in BI tools (e.g., Power BI) or ERP/CMMS systems (SAP PM / Maximo).
- Interest in Methods: Basic knowledge of or an initial academic interest in maintenance concepts (RCM, FMEA, root cause analysis) is a major plus.
- Language Skills: Fluent German for day-to-day work at the plant, as well as good English for reports and international tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, a structured approach to work, and an open, communicative personality.
What We Offer:
- Steep learning curve: In-depth practical knowledge in asset management and reliability engineering at a global market leader.
- Real responsibility: You’ll work on concrete projects that directly improve the availability of our large-scale facilities.
- Flexibility: We’ll flexibly adjust your work hours to fit your class schedule—during exam periods, your studies take priority.
- Safety & HSE: We prioritize workplace safety and provide you with first-class equipment. Excellent work environment based on respectful, appreciative, and trust-based interactions
- Free water and coffee, as well as an on-site cafeteria
