ELG Haniel eröffnet neuen Platz in St. Petersburg, Russland

14.07.2020

It is the highlight of the year so far for ELG Haniel in St. Petersburg: After almost 22 years at St. Petersburg´s “Timber Port”, ELG moved to a new yard at St. Petersburg´s “Fish Port”. Operations started on July 10, after all staff and machinery successfully moved from the old to the new site.

On the new yard, the team will sort and recycle around 4,000 tons of scrap per month. Materials processed include Stainless Steel 308 and 316 bulk cargos, high and low alloyed solids and turnings, Nickel-Chrome solids and other qualities.

After just one month of building time, the new 9,300 square meters yard was ready. Already before, an associated office and laboratory building and a warehouse for storing high-quality scrap had been completely renovated.

“We are proud to have managed the move from the old to the new location in time and exactly as planned”, says Alexander Potapenko, Head of ELG OOO Ocean, ELG´s organizational unit in Russia.

Operations on the new yard follow the same strict requirements for the environment and for work safety which ELG Haniel adheres to at all of its scrap yards globally.
